Day 2 - Caen to alencon
Route
Day 2
There is a very good cycle path from the port to Pegasus Bridge (famous for its role in the D-Day landings). From there the next few miles are a bit busier until the route turns southwards at Troarn. I have modified the route into Troan to avoid the busiest section. Most of the day is on quiet country roads with gentle gradients. Towards the end there is a more sustained, but relatively gradual, climb through the Ecroves National Forest followed by a long enjoyable descent into Alencon.
An early start from the overnight ferry.
Classic roman roads; ideal for a peloton.
Who could resist the offer of 3 cakes for desert?
The flying bike of Almeneches.
