Day 4 - Tours to montmorillion
route
Day 4
Exiting Tours we avoid the busy river crossings by taking a pedestrian/cycling bridge via an island in the river. The bridge is accessed from some steps in the back of a housing estate, so be careful to follow the route. After that there is a path along the river and then some quite suburban streets taking us out of town.
Traffic free bridge out of Tours.
Crossing the river at Lésigny.
Flat open road into Ligueil just south of Tours:
Once out of Tours we head south on quiet flat roads through small towns such as Liguiel, Barrou and Lésigny. La Roche-Posay, after about 80km, is slightly larger and is a good option if you are looking for a lunch stop. The cycling continues to be easy all the way to Montmorillon, which is a pretty, reasonably small, town on the river Gartempe, just big enough to have a selection of hotels and restaurants.
